interlinings

Interlining

Interlining is a flannel-like fabric that is placed between the fabric layer and the lining layer of window treatments as shown in the photo (from the back side of the window treatment).

With the addition of interlining, window treatments have a noticeably fuller and more luxurious look. Interlining will also protect the fabric from fading and sun damage, making the treatments maintain a fresh appearance with vivid colors. We often recommend using interlining because, in addition to improving the aesthetic quality of the window treatments, it also helps insulate your home, making it more energy efficient.

Window treatments were made with interlining or English Bump (which is a thicker blanket-like cousin to interlining) when the source of heat was only from a fireplace or a wood-burning stove.

Today, conserving energy affects everyone. Whether it is keeping your home warmer in the winter or cooler in the summer, the addition of interlining helps to lower your energy bills while adding beauty and longevity to your window treatments.
